Into The Empty Quarter - Irish Premiere
Into the Empty Quarter is a very modern telling of a classic travel story. Wilfred Thesiger was one of Britain's great explorers and writers. His greatest journeys were through the world's largest sand desert: the Empty Quarter of the Arabian Peninsula. Inspired by their hero, adventurers Alastair Humphreys and Leon McCarron attempt a 1000 miles trek journey of their own into the Empty Quarter. Their trip is hastily-planned and low budget: unable to afford camels they instead hope to drag a homemade steel cart (filled with 300kg of supplies) through the ferocious desert heat. This film is their story.

14.C - Irish Premiere
Climbers all have a story about how they got started, and 14-year-old Kai Lighter’s introduction is particularly striking — and not only because he’s a brilliant climber. Much like Tiger Woods in golf or the Williams sisters in tennis, he could change the demographics of climbing. This film, directed by George Knowles, isn’t about race, however, it’s about family. His single mother, who has no interest in climbing whatsoever, has become his belay partner, spending hours with her hands on a belay device. This film has won the following awards: 5Point Film Festival - Most Inspiring and MountainFilm in Telluride - Runner Up Charlie Fowler Award
